Scan-to-BIM of an Electrical Station in Switzerland
As-built model of a small electrical station in Switzerland: the outdoor switchyard, the control building and the overhead line connections. Architecture, structure, MEP and equipment in one model, with the electrical supports and conductors reproduced in detail.

- Switzerland
The challenge
The station is an existing facility that supplies electricity to its region. Most of what matters sits outdoors: steel gantries, high-voltage equipment on its supports, insulator strings and the conductors running between them, plus a small control building on a sloped plot. The client needed the whole site as one model that matches what actually stands there.
Our solution
We modelled the station from the point cloud across four disciplines: architecture, structure, MEP and equipment. The electrical supports and power transmission got the most attention. Gantries, equipment supports, insulators and conductors are in the model in detail, and the conductors follow their real sag between the gantries. The control building, terrain and fencing complete the site, so the switchyard reads in its real context.
Results
- Architecture, structure, MEP and equipment in one as-built model
- Gantries, equipment supports, insulators and conductors modelled in detail
- A base for studying the station, assessing risks and planning further development
