Scan-to-BIM of an Academic Theater for Facade Lighting
A detailed architectural model of an academic theater in Ukraine, built from a point cloud. The lighting team used it to place LEDs and other fixtures on the facade.
- Location
- Ukraine
The challenge
The theater was getting architectural lighting, and the lighting team had to decide where every LED and fixture goes. On a classical facade that depends on the exact geometry: columns, cornices, the pediment, the arched window. There were no drawings accurate enough to plan from, only the building itself and a point cloud of it.
Our solution
We built a detailed architectural model from the point cloud. Columns, capitals, cornices, the pediment and the window surrounds are modelled to the profile, so a fixture position can be checked against the real geometry before anyone goes up on the facade. The same model was then used for the lighting visuals.
Results
- Detailed architectural model of the theater built from a point cloud
- Facade elements modelled to the profile: columns, cornices, pediment, arched window
- Used to plan the placement of LEDs and other lighting fixtures
