2D to BIM for a Four-Building Residential Complex in France
BIM model of a new residential complex on Boulevard de l'Égalité in France: four apartment blocks around a shared courtyard and parking. Architecture and structure, built from the project's 2D drawings down to the apartment layouts.

The challenge
The project is a new residential complex on a long, narrow plot between existing houses. Four apartment blocks stand along it, from four to seven levels each, with a shared courtyard, ground-level parking and ramps between them. The design existed only as 2D drawings, and the client needed it as one coordinated Revit model, with the layout of every apartment inside, not only the building shells.
Our solution
We built the model from the project's 2D drawings, block by block and level by level, architecture and structure together. Load-bearing walls, slabs and roofs make up the structure; inside, the apartments are modelled with their partitions, doors and sanitary fittings. Facades carry their windows, balconies and railings, and the neighbouring houses are modelled as simple masses for context. Each block has its own set of levels, because floor heights differ from one building to the next.
Results
- Architecture and structure of four residential blocks modelled from 2D drawings
- Apartment layouts with partitions, doors and sanitary fittings
- Courtyard, parking, ramps and neighbouring buildings in one model
